Ottawa has four seasons.
The climate ranges from hot and humid in the summer with temperatures reaching the high 30s oC to very cold in the winter with lows in the -30s oC. Summer temperatures average 20 oC. Winter temperatures average -10 oC, making Ottawa the seventh coldest capital in the world. Cycling, beach volleyball, jogging, swimming, tennis, golf and whitewater rafting are among the city’s favourite activities in summer. In the winter, however, the residents partake in activities such as curling, skiing, snowboarding, skating, tobogganing, snowmobiling and snowshoeing.
